About Us
The Civil Status and Registration Office is responsible for the administration and registration of a range of issues and events relating to Gibraltarian citizens. The main areas of concern for the office include marriage and civil partnerships, passports, Visas, ID Cards and Civilian Registration Cards, as well as the registration of births and deaths that occur within the community.
Gibraltar has long been well known as a popular destination for weddings with thousands of couples marrying on The Rock each year, from all over the world.
Hollywood stars Lawrence Harvey and Margaret Leighton were the first high profile couples to say ’I do’ on the Rock and more recently John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and James Bond star Sir Sean Connery has even done it twice!
Getting married on the Rock is easy, there are no residential requirements, and it's recognised worldwide.
However, its a popular place for getting married, so its wise to book your arrangements early.
The Registry Office is an attractive location with a garden for photos, or you can choose from a variety of locations around the Rock.
You must hold a valid passport to enter Gibraltar, for the duration of your stay. If you or your partner do not hold a EU passport and require a visa to enter the UK be aware that it does not cover entry to Gibraltar and you must apply to the Gibraltar authorities for permission to enter.
