About Us

The Bar Council is the successor body to the Gibraltar Bar Association that for some time was the representative organisation for lawyers in Gibraltar.
The Council itself was formally constituted in the early 1990's following significant growth in the legal profession over the last 40 years.
The Council is made up of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and a number of members elected at Annual General Meetings of the Bar Council from among subscriber members. There is also provision to co-opt members where necessary. The Council members are drawn from all levels of seniority within the legal profession and is thus representative of the profession as a whole.
